We are seeking healthy women aged 18 to 45 who are not currently breastfeeding, pregnant or planning to be.

You should be prepared for multiple medical check-ups and vaginal exams over the 8 to 10 week participation in the study. At each study visit, we will take blood samples and vaginal swabs. You would need to be comfortable to insert the Lactobacillus-containing study medication with a vaginal applicator, and later to take antibiotics to clear the Lactobacillus from the vagina. While in the study, you would complete a daily diary using a secure mobile app.

You need to be able to attend approximately 15 study visits at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital over 8-10 week of study participation. You will receive $100 for each study visit, a total of up to 1,500$ for study participation.

It is essential for participants to refrain from sexual activity during the study period. If you have a sexual partner, they must also agree to participate in this study to ensure their safety if they are exposed to the drug through sexual intercourse. A sexual partner will not receive the Lactobacillus-containing study drug, but needs to be willing to come to the clinic in case of potential exposure during sex, and to take antibiotics if our lab tests confirm that they have been in contact with the study drug.
